I have created a side table that has been stripped to only its essential parts, a custom veneered disk of Madrone burl wood for the top, and solid Madrone wood legs that penetrate and interlock the top surface. The piercing of the legs creates a simple pattern or rhythm around the circular table edge, while at the same time provides the connection needed to support the top without using a stretcher. Crisp, clean lines and sharp detailing, contemporary and modern design, and one of the most interesting of the Pacific Northwest’s woods gives it its sense of place.
